British Ambassador leads Trade Delegation to Palau

British Ambassador to the Philippines, Asif Ahmad, is inviting British companies to join him on a trade delegation to Palau.

In addition to his role as Ambassador to the Philippines, Ambassador Ahmad also serves as British Ambassador to the Pacific island nation of Palau. He will shortly be visiting Palau to present his credentials and would like to invite any British businesses from the region who are interested in exploring opportunities on the island to join him on a trade delegation. The visit is expected to take place in late February/early March.

Palau is an island nation in the western Pacific, with a population of approximately 21,000 people spread over more than 250 islands. Approximately two-thirds of the people live on the most populated island, Koror. Principal economic sectors include tourism (over 100,000 in 2011), agriculture and fishing. The government is also a major employer, in part due to overseas financial assistance, and a reasonable amount of infrastructure development has taken place in recent years. GDP is over $220m, with a 6.3% growth rate in 2012.

Any British companies who wish to join the Ambassador on his visit should register their interest with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) by contacting Iain Mansfield by or before 15th February 2014.
