In a post-pandemic world, tourism is pivotal in driving economic growth. Its impact goes far beyond attracting visitors to a destination. It spans the hospitality, transportation, entertainment, and retail industries, acting as a catalyst for job creation across various sectors.
In 2023, the Department of Tourism recorded a significant influx of international tourists, totaling 5,450,557 visitors from January to December. After introducing direct flights from the United Kingdom to the Philippines, there was an 11% surge in tourist arrivals. Specifically, 154,698 individuals from the UK accounted for 2.84% of the total visiting tourists. These developments contribute to the growth of the travel industry and facilitate cultural exchange and appreciation.
