With the increasing online businesses and transactions brought by the advancements in technology, and propelled by the various levels of quarantine due to the pandemic, the Philippine government saw the need to regulate online trading to protect the consumers. Having that in mind, the lawmakers propose the enactment of a statute to be known as the “Internet Transactions Act.” The proposed law also aims to encourage businesses, local and foreign alike, to engage in electronic commerce and spur further growth of e-commerce in the Philippines.
