Philippines awarded Destination of the Year for 2014

TTG Asia Media’s Travel Trade Publishing Group held its 25th TTG Travel Awards last October 2nd at the Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Center in Thailand. The Philippines bagged the Destination of the Year which fell under the Outstanding Achievement Awards, where the country was able to distinguish itself in taking in boosting and developing the promotion of the travel industry.

The TTG Travel Awards has been recognizing the best of Asia-Pacific’s travel trade for 24 years. Today, it is a sought-after award in the travel industry and its word is influential being a trusted travel publication.

Tourism Secretary Ramon R. Jimenez, Jr. accepted the award and thanked TTG for the publication’s support and partnership in promoting the Philippines. He dedicated the award to Filipinos saying that it was through their participation in the “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign coupled with the President’s support, were the country able to put Philippine tourism in a brighter light.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) is set to promote 2015 as “Visit the Philippines Year.” DOT aims to get 10 million visitors in the country, as the country hosts major events next year, including the Papal Visit on January.
