UK companies express interest in the Philippine market

In an aim to assist more UK businesses targeting to enter the Philippine market, the British Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (BCCP) organised a webinar, a web-based seminar, on Doing Business in the Philippines last Thursday, 30th July.

Over 21 UK firms showed interest in the Philippine market and actively participated in the webinar. The participants come from various sectors such as food and beverage, tourism/leisure, software and technology, consulting, export trading, water management and energy. These UK-based companies are either looking at setting up a business in the country or exporting their products to the Philippines.

Board of Investment (BOI) Director for Investments Assistance Service Domingo Bagaporo gave an informative discussion on business setup, the Philippine advantage and opportunities in the country. To further engage the attendees, Paywizard COO Gordon Tainton and Senior Vice President for HR Corporate Communications and Change Management Moira Brown gladly shared their experiences and insights in doing business in the country. The presentations were followed by Q&A particularly on BOI Investment Priorities Plan (IPP), incentives, and market opportunities.

The attendees were very pleased as time was managed well and topics discussed were comprehensive and relevant to their needs. In addition, a number of attendees requested to have another session tackling exporting to the Philippines. With the success of this event, we can expect more UK businesses to invest and do business in the country.

BCCP is set to hold another webinar in September which will have a focused discussion on exports which will surely engage more UK businesses in the country.

Presentations of the speakers are available here.
