The British Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (BCCP) held its annual golf tournament on 15th May 2013 at the Sta. Elena Golf and Country Club, Cabuyao, Laguna. The players enjoyed what is considered to be one of the best golf courses in the Philippines, and in perfect weather too! The golf challenge started with an early 6.00 AM registration when the golfers also had time to prepare with a good breakfast and mingle with other members of the British and Philippine business community, prior to the Shotgun tee-off at 7.00 AM.
After the game, players gathered at the La Hacienda for a sumptuous lunch reception – whilst viewing their photos and monitoring their scores on the live scoring feed. Awarding of winners was announced by Sarah McLeod, Tournament Director. For the Fun Hole winners, the Longest Drive was achieved by Derek Ramsay, Jr., who received a plaque and gifts from our Hole Sponsor Shell Philippines, the Nearest to the Pin was achieved by John Cort, who received a plaque and a gift from SJI Management Services. Meanwhile, Gavin Ooi was able to hit the Most Accurate Drive, and received a plaque and a gift from Hyder Consulting, whilst the Drive & Pitch Fun Hole winner was Jim Goudsmit, who received a plaque and a gift from ServCorp. The Champion for the Men’s Class C was Philip Roberts of DeVere, for Class B was Noel Malabag of HSBC, and for Class A was George Elazegui of Authohub. For the Ladies’ division, Su Kolkma took home the trophy as Ladies’ Champion. The Lowest Gross and the most popular player of the Day was Derek Ramsay, Jr. – a known actor, model and a sport enthusiast, and part of the representation of Guard-All Electronic.
Attended by golfers from the British and Filipino business community’s top executives, the Great British Golf Challenge is one of the major annual events hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (BCCP). The BCCP, led by its new Chairman Roger Lamb, plays an important role in generating improved trade between the Philippines and the UK providing its Members with practical support in developing their businesses, including business and social networking events such as The Great British Golf Challenge.
