HMA Ahmad Meets BCCP Members and Guests

The weather may not have been the most conducive, but that proved insignificant as members and guests arrived at the Dusit Thani Manila, last Thursday, 22 August 2013 for the social networking night: BCCP Welcome to the New British Ambassador.

The British Chamber of Commerce had a grand opportunity to host a welcome reception for Her Majesty’s Ambassador, Asif Ahmad, and introduce him to the BCCP community. The night started with welcome remarks by BCCP Chairman, Roger Lamb, greeting and thanking guests for coming to the event. He then introduced Mr Ahmad and welcomed him as the new Patron of the BCCP.

His Excellency gave a short albeit sincere speech, recalling the first time he met BCCP members back in 2004 when he visited the Philippines in his capacity as UKTI Director for Asia. He spoke of his vision for a stronger working relationship and increased level of joint activities between BCCP, the British Embassy and UKTI.  He said the focus of his role as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Philippines is to strengthen relationships between British and Philippine businesses, as well as between the citizens of both countries.

The rest of the night was filled with networking as members and guests took turns to introduce themselves to the Ambassador and warmly welcome him to Manila.

All things considered, it was a very successful event for the BCCP, and we are definitely looking forward to seeing the Ambassador’s presence in future BCCP events.
