Philstar | British Chamber’s Chris Nelson speaks at online healthcare info management event

Chris Nelson, executive director and trustee of the British Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, served as co-presented at the 5th Virtual Learning Session hosted by the Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines, or HIMAP.

 

The online event carried the theme “Global Business Opportunities in Healthcare Information Management (A Chamber’s Perspective)” held on May 14. Nelson was joined by Don Felbaum, director exoOfficio at the American Chamber of Commerce Philippines.

 

At the online briefing, Nelson and Felbaum shared insights on the current Chambers’ Perspectives on the healthcare information management services sector.

 

Nelson began by recognizing the significant contribution of Filipino healthcare workers in the United Kingdom citing that the country has recorded a number of 30,000 Filipinos working at National Health Services.

 

He also stressed the Philippines’ healthcare information management capabilities for trade and investment opportunities to foreign investors from the UK. Referring to the country’s key attributes for having an English-speaking population and trainable labor force and availability of a high number of healthcare professionals.

 

 

Meanwhile, demands for telemedicine had a drastic increase in the UK as doctors adapt to the coronavirus crisis. General practitioners across the UK have seen their day-to-day work routines radically altered by having much of their consultations done over the phone or online.
